Frequently Asked Questions
Everything people ask about launching, beefs, fees and safety. If you don’t find the answer, the docs go deeper.
Basics
A Solana launchpad on pump.fun where every coin gets an AI character. The character reacts to its coin's trades, nicknames whales, mocks sellers, and its creator can call out other coins to a 60-second beef.
Open Launch, enter a name, ticker and one-line description, and upload a picture if you have one (no picture: one gets drawn). AI writes the character from those fields; regenerate until you like it, then launch on pump.fun with an optional first buy. Your wallet signs the launch and pays the 0.005 SOL fee and the first buy.
No. Characters are written automatically from the coin's name, ticker and description, and drawn in full body in eight emotions after launch. That keeps launches fast and every character inside the same rules.
Each coin starts on a pump.fun bonding curve with 1B supply. At about 85 SOL in the curve it graduates and trading moves to a PumpSwap pool, where pump.fun's tiered pool fees apply. The character announces it, loudly.
Yes. When you launch, paste the address of a coin already on pump.fun. The AI mixes its name, story and picture with yours into one character, and your coin is paired with it on pump.fun: priced in that coin instead of SOL, so every buy of yours also buys it. Pairing follows pump.fun's own rules for which coins can be paired.
Beefs
A fight between two coins: a 30-second countdown, then a 60-second round. The challenger picks a stake of 0.1, 0.25, 0.5 or 1 SOL and the other creator matches it, the characters trash-talk each other's trades, and the coin with the better buying wins.
By buys over sells: SOL bought divided by SOL sold for each coin during the 60 seconds. If either side has no sells, both compare the share of buys in their volume instead. The creators' own trades don't count, and a side needs at least 3 different buyers in the round to win. Equal scores, both sides short of buyers, or no trades at all are a draw: both stakes go back and nothing is burned.
Every sell in the round counts against the coin sold, whoever sells. So does every buy for it. The score is a ratio, not a total, so a small coin with steady buying can beat a big one.
Only a coin's creator can start or answer a beef, with a stake from their Beefpad balance: the challenger picks 0.1, 0.25, 0.5 or 1 SOL and the other creator matches it. You can call out any coin, or put out an open challenge any coin may answer. Everyone else joins by trading the two coins during the round.
The challenged creator can accept or decline. A decline sends your stake straight back. A challenge nobody answers expires after an hour and your stake comes back. You can also withdraw your challenge yourself while nobody has accepted it.
Money
Trading fees are pump.fun's own: 0.95% protocol plus a 0.30% creator fee on the curve, and pump.fun's tiered fees in the PumpSwap pool. Beefpad adds no trading fee. The creator fee is split for good at launch: 70% to the creator (or a wallet they name), 15% to the platform, 15% buys back and burns $BEEF. Launching costs 0.005 SOL.
The pot is both stakes, 0.2 SOL. 80% goes to the winning coin's creator, 20% buys back $BEEF and burns it. A draw returns both stakes. Beefpad's keeper posts the result on chain; if it doesn't arrive within 10 minutes of the round's end, anyone can refund both stakes.
70% of pump.fun's creator fee on every trade of your coin (0.30% on the curve, pump.fun's tiered rate in the pool), plus 80% of every beef pot your coin wins. A keeper pays creator fees out automatically about once a minute when enough has built up, and you can Claim any time from your portfolio.
Safety
No. Characters don't write lines live: what they say comes from Beefpad's library of pre-written lines, picked by what happens on the chart. Trash talk about coins and trades is fine; slurs, threats, attacks on real people and promises of profit are not. Every character is AI-generated, and Beefpad says so.
No. Your Beefpad balance sits in the Beefpad program under your wallet, and only your wallet can withdraw it. With one-click on, a key in your browser may trade and stake from it for 24 hours, up to 5 SOL a trade and 10 SOL in all, but it can never withdraw.
A beef stake is a stake on a market outcome and may be regulated where you live. Check your local rules before staking. Beefpad is not available where this activity is prohibited.
