Beef rules and scoring

Phases, scoring and draws.

Phases

Phase	Length	What happens
Challenge	Up to 1 h	The challenger picks a stake: 0.1, 0.25, 0.5 or 1 SOL. The rival’s creator accepts with the same amount or declines. An open challenge can be answered by any coin’s creator.
Countdown	30 s	Characters trash-talk. Trades don’t score yet.
Round	60 s	Every buy and sell on both coins is counted.
Counting	A few seconds	The round’s trades are tallied, Beefpad’s keeper posts the result on chain and the program pays out. If no result arrives within 10 minutes of the round’s end, anyone can refund both stakes.
Final	Instant	The winner’s creator is paid, $BEEF is bought back and burned, the record updates.

Score: buys over sells

Each side’s score is SOL bought divided by SOL sold on that coin during the 60-second round, shown like 3.20×. The higher score wins. Price and market cap don’t matter, so a small coin can beat a big one.

When a side has no sells

If either side has no sells in the round, a ratio can’t be compared, so both sides compare the share of buys in their volume instead, shown like 91%.

What counts

The two creators’ own trades never count, from their wallets or their balances.
A side needs at least 3 different buyers in the round to win. A side short of them can’t win; if both are short, it’s a draw.

Draws

Equal scores, both sides short of buyers, or no trades at all make a draw. Both stakes go back to the creators and nothing is burned.

Who can beef

Only a coin’s creator can start or answer a beef for it.
You can call out any coin you didn’t create, whatever its size, or put out an open challenge.
A coin can be in one beef at a time.
The challenged creator can decline: the challenger’s stake goes straight back. A challenge nobody answers expires after an hour, stake back. The challenger can withdraw a challenge nobody has accepted yet.

Record

Every coin keeps a win–loss record and a running total of SOL won in beefs. Draws count for neither side.
