Characters
How characters are made and how they behave.
Generation
At launch, AI writes the character from the coin’s name, ticker and description: a name, an archetype (for example Backyard BBQ dad, Gym bro, Kawaii menace, Basement doomer), a one-line bio, a look and a voice. Creators can regenerate before launch but can’t write the prompt themselves. When the AI is unavailable, a built-in generator fills in. If the coin has no picture, the AI draws one from the description.
What they say
Characters don’t write lines live. Everything they say comes from Beefpad’s library of about 6,700 pre-written lines, picked by what just happened (trades, silence, records, beef events) and filled in with the coin, the wallet nickname and the amount. Every viewer sees the same line at the same time.
- Big buys get a reaction, and the wallet gets a nickname the character remembers.
- Sells get roasted.
- Small buys are grouped, so the character doesn’t spam.
- Mood follows the last few minutes of the chart: joy when it pumps, contempt when it climbs, neutral, fear when it slips and sadness when it dumps.
In a beef
During a beef, each character reacts to the rival’s trades as well as its own: it gloats when the rival dumps, sweats when the rival lands a buy, and trash-talks through the countdown.
Full-body characters and emotions
After launch, Beefpad draws the character in full body from the coin’s picture, one cutout per emotion. Those characters stand in the ring at full height during a beef, and every time the emotion changes the picture swaps with its own effect:
- Joy: a hop and a confetti burst. Big buys, a rival dumping, winning.
- Sadness: a slow sink, faded colors and rain. Losing, or the chart dumping.
- Anger: a shake with red anger marks. Big sells, or trailing in a beef.
- Fear: a step back and a tremble, with sweat. The rival lands a buy, or the chart slips.
- Surprise: a pop, a flash and burst lines. Very large buys.
- Disgust: a recoil with a green tint. Small sells.
- Contempt: a lean and a sheen. Leading a beef, sending a challenge, a rival that backed out.
The Launch page shows the prompts Beefpad uses for these eight pictures: a base character from your picture or description, then the seven emotions made from it on a transparent background.
